Solar Sounds pres. Lady Lavender Event DescriptionPrecision selectors with deep devotion - Lady Lavender, Firestone, & Waycool Junior will keep the room energized Friday August 22nd.
LADY LAVENDER, Baltimore-based, hails from Southern California, with her formative DJing years spent in New Orleans where she established herself as a formidable selector. A DJ and party-starter with a formal dance background, her selections & musical style go back to the source: the dance floor & the dancers. With an expert and measured touch, her sets are precisely crafted for the setting & the hour. Over the years she has played direct support for renowned globetrotting artists including Helena Hauff, Avalon Emerson, Maya Jane Coles, and Mall Grab, and has played around the US in cities such as NYC, Austin, San Francisco, Detroit, and Philadelphia. A frequent and prolific collaborator, Lady Lavender’s other projects include Secret Handshake, N*S*F*W, and Hast du Feuer, spanning many facets of her artistry.
FIRESTONE is a Philadelphia-based engineer, DJ, and the founder of the event series Polari: A Queer Agenda. Their musical background as a classically trained choral singer and instrumentalist can be heard lending a major influence on their work. In the club, they frequently dip into disco, house, and garage; techno and trance; and R&B, pop, and hyperpop. On their monthly radio show (greatcircles.net) called Slow Burn, they fuse slower soundscapes while occasionally injecting their Armenian heritage.
WAYCOOL JUNIOR is a DJ, event promoter and producer from Philly that blends their classical training with a broader knowledge of electronic music history. With roots farther back in the city's DIY scene, they recently passed 2 years and 10 editions of hosting their party series "Hotel Canal", a function with an underground leaning sound that showcases the city's rising talent alongside more established artists. Behind the booth you can expect to hear a variety of flavors, ranging from early UK tech house to the more laid back Balearic productions of the early 90's. Expect percussive, latin influenced drum sections balanced by deep melodies that build suspense throughout, into truly explosive moments on the dance floor.
