We are powered by the Son and by the sun! Join us Sunday June 7th as we dedicate them during worship (10 am) then celebrate with a potluck after worship. After more than 2 years of planning, conversation, prayer, fundraising, and faithful work, we are finally at the moment when these panels will begin providing energy to our church building. They officially started generating power May 22.
This project has always been about more than electricity. Yes they will reduce long-term utility costs, help us care for creation, and make good use of the resources God has entrusted. They are a practical investment in the future of this congregation and in the stewardship of the earth we share.
And throughout this process, God has been at work.
We have joked that “we are powered by the Son and by the sun,” but these words are a lighthearted reminder of our call as people of God.
Our mission and purpose has been and will always be to love God and our neighbors, to serve Christ, sharing Gods love with all
One might ask how solar panels help with that at all. We look forward to saving on our significant utility bill, freeing us to use our financial gifts in new ways for mission. And we look forward to the clean energy that helps us care for the gift of this earth God calls us to be stewards of.
So please join us on this journey of faith as we celebrate June 7th
