About this Event
Embark on an exquisite evening of art, ideas, sustainability and culinary exploration with The Feast: Sojourns of Salt with Ken + Julia Yonetani hosted at restaurant Fiz.
Central to the experience is an installation of unique salt sculptures created by Japanese-Australian artist duo, Ken + Julia Yonetani. These intricate works transform everyday food items into fragile, glimmering forms from Murray River salt, highlighting the delicate balance between sustenance and the environment – inviting a reflection on the historical, cultural, and ecological narratives surrounding salt: a commodity that has shaped economies, traditions, and landscapes across millennia.
The artists’ works also serve as inspiration for a curated dining experience at Fiz – a Michelin Green Star restaurant. Created by Chef Hafizzul Hashim, the dishes highlight salt’s role as both a preserver and a flavour enhancer, while connecting to stories of the Murray River and its significance in Australia’s ecological and cultural fabric and uniquely telling the tale of flavour profiles from the Malaysian archipelago.
