Join the French Embassy and Consulate in Washington for this special Soirée en français. This festive evening is part of Francophonie Month, the March event series celebrating the richness and diversity of the French language with Francophiles and French speakers from around the world.

On Wednesday, March 5, French will be la langue officielle (the official language) at La Maison Française (the French Embassy’s exclusive event space) all evening long. Whether you're a débutant (beginner), intermédiaire (intermediate), or avancé (advanced) student of French, this event is your chance to parler français (speak French) and celebrate the language and cultures of the French-speaking world in a fun, festive atmosphere.
5 pm – 7 pm: Apéro de bienvenue – Kick off the night with your first glass of wine, some French-inspired chansons (songs), and the chance to mingle.

7 pm: Allocution – Enjoy a special bilingual speech by Caroline Monvoisin, Consul General of Washington, DC, highlighting the importance of la Francophonie.

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Soirée Festive – Dance the night away to a DJ set featuring the hottest French hits!
You will receive a sticker indicating your French skill level in one of France’s official colors: bleu = beginner, blanc = intermediate, or rouge = advanced.

This event features a cash bar with drinks and petites assiettes (nibbles) curated by Embassy Chef Daniel Labonne.

Doors open at 5 pm and close at 7 pm. The event ends at 9:30 pm. Please note that this event is strictly 21 years old and over. A valid ID is required at the entrance for verification. Each guest must be registered under their first and last name, matching the ID presented for access. A coat check will also be available for $2 in cash per item.
