About this Event

The Black CoopNomics Academy is a 12-week intensive cooperative training program designed to empower Black entrepreneurs, organizers, and community leaders with the knowledge, skills, and resources to build and sustain successful cooperative enterprises. Rooted in the principles of cooperative economics, the Academy is dedicated to fostering Black-owned and Black-led cooperatives that drive economic self-sufficiency, wealth-building, and community resilience.

Mission & Objectives

The Black CoopNomics Academy is committed to:

  • Developing Cooperative Leadership: Equipping participants with the tools to establish and lead successful cooperative businesses.
  • Building Sustainable Economic Models: Providing education on cooperative governance, finance, and community ownership structures.
  • Advancing Economic Justice: Addressing systemic barriers that Black entrepreneurs face in accessing capital, markets, and cooperative support systems.
  • Strengthening Community-Based Enterprises: Fostering cooperative models that prioritize collective wealth-building and social impact.

  • Community leaders and activists interested in cooperative economic models to address social and economic challenges.
  • Existing cooperatives seeking to strengthen their governance and sustainability.
