The Soggy Po Boys are fervent practitioners of New Orleans music and the myriad of traditions that entails. From the sounds of Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong to Dr. John and John Boutté, a Po Boys record includes rags, ballads, biguines, hymns, and soul anthems, as well as original compositions that somehow feel familiar. With their new album, Leave the Light On, the Po Boys embrace their role as purveyors, torch bearers, and archivists of the music they love so well. The continuation of New Orleans music as a living art form demands new perspective and persistent effort at all times. On their newest album, the band welcomes the creative voices of Boston trombonist Josh Gagnon and Maine drummer Brian Waterhouse, who inject fresh ideas and energy into their sound.
