Soft Living is a plush creature habitat created by Rochester artist Dina Noto, on view at Lumiere Photo March 6 through 28. The exhibit features Noto’s Fuzzpatch Studio line of custom hand-sewn creatures in the fuzzy and colorful world they call home. Celebrate with the Fuzzpatch at their opening reception First Friday March 6, from 6p to 9p.The Fuzzpatch are zany guardian animals that inhabit the uncanny valley between cute and peculiar. They are a found family of creatures, each individual with a distinct personality, that collectively inhabit a world of unconditional love and compassion. The series is inspired by the artist’s most beloved childhood toys--CareBears, My Little Pony, and Cabbage Patch Kids, dolls prepackaged with the story of their family and magical land of origin.
Soft Living presents the Fuzzpatch in the bright and fuzzy nests and structures of their natural environment. The fantasy world of the Fuzzpatch is a soft, silly place that provides the comfort and joy that gentle beings require.
