Soft Armor explores the emotional and psychological defenses formed in early life, particularly within Black and immigrant experiences. Through a visual language rooted in nostalgia, play, and childlike perception, the work reflects on the lessons learned too early: how to navigate pressure, identity, and survival.
By pairing a playful, almost disarming aesthetic with weightier subject matter, the paintings invite viewers to confront vulnerability without resistance, revealing the quiet tension between protection and openness.
