If yes, then you will love the Socrates Cafe. We ask questions and discuss ideas to stimulate critical thinking. We enrich ourselves with the perspectives of others, not to convince others about our own perspectives.
Socrates Cafe gathers twice a month on Monday evenings at Spiral Wanderers in Brunswick. A very casual and cozy place to talk about the philosophical implications of a particular topic. We will have a number of topics for consideration, based on the desires of the group in attendance. .
Discussions are informal, friendly, and lightly moderated. We welcome anyone with curiosity, a thoughtful disposition, and consideration for the ideas of others. Our gatherings are about our own philosophies of life and not necessarily what the great philosophers and academics have said or written. It is not a debating club or a platform for proselytizing. Instead, we place the emphasis on questioning, open mindedness and challenging our own assumptions while listening to and considering the views shared by others
