The McLean County Museum of History is offering a Social Justice Walking Tour on Thursday, June 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to explore local history related to civil rights, women’s suffrage, freedom of the press, antisemitism, environmental justice, urban renewal, labor struggles, and other such social justice initiatives. There is no better way to learn about our troubled, triumphant, and timely past than to hear about it firsthand— at the actual sites where the history was made! Museum board member and labor historian Mike Matejka, and the Museum’s Senior Director of Education Candace Summers, will lead the tour.
The walk begins at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Bloomington. Participants should meet outside the Museum’s main entrance on Washington Street approximately 15 minutes before tour time. The walk will cover approximately two miles, concluding south of downtown near St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. We also encourage you to bring bottled water.
Tickets are $10 for the General Public, $8 for Museum Members, and $5 for students. Participation is limited to 30 people. Tickets will go on sale May 11, 2026 and will be available for purchase online.
