About this Event

Confirmed Keynote speakers: Dr Stefan Lawrence (Leeds Beckett University) and Dr Barbara Mitra (University of Worcester)

Presentations and workshops across the day that include an interesting and diverse range of social justice topics.

The conference aims to educate, debate, and challenge what social justice means to individuals. Looking at the concept from different perspectives, but with an emphasis on what this means in practice from research to lived experience.

Social Justice is a much-used term in academic texts, in politics and in social policy, yet it remains highly contested.

It is a concept which promises much but does not always deliver — social justice or the lack of it directly affects the lives of individuals, families and wider society.

This conference seeks to understand how we make sense of social justice within different communities, across health, criminal justice, social care, education and employment sectors, but importantly, at the individual level in day-to-day lives.
