A social hike up Pen-y-Ghent – connect with likeminded people beyond the city!
About this Event

The After Work Club: Social Hike up Pen-y-Ghent ⛰️

In partnership with Hike Club, Tenzing & Hip Pop

We’re doing something a little different…

This time, we’re taking The After Work Club out of the city and into the Yorkshire Peaks for our very first social hike and you’re invited.

Join us for a guided group hike up Pen-y-Ghent, one of Yorkshire’s most iconic peaks, as we bring together ambitious, like-minded professionals for a day of fresh air, good chats and shared achievement.

This isn’t just about the summit (though the views are worth it). It’s about connection. Slower conversations. New friendships. Stepping away from screens and into something energising and different.

Whether you’re looking to meet new people, expand your circle, or network professionally or socially this is your chance to do it somewhere unforgettable.

Hike Details

📍 Location: Pen-y-Ghent, Yorkshire Dales
📏 Distance: Approximately 6 miles
⏱️ Estimated duration: Up to 4 hours (including steady pace and regrouping points)
🥾 Open to all abilities with a reasonable level of fitness

We’ll move together as a group, with regular pauses and encouragement throughout. This is about shared experience not racing to the top.

Timings

🕥 Meet at 10:30am
🥾 Hike starts at 11:00am sharp

We’ll gather at Horton-in-Ribblesdale Station, where our partners at Hike Club will lead a short briefing before we set off together.

Travel Info

🚆 Travelling from Leeds?
We recommend the 9:18am train from Leeds, arriving into Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 10:30am — giving you plenty of time to meet the group before we begin.

🚗 Travelling by car?
Parking is available nearby — please meet us at Horton-in-Ribblesdale Station for 10:30am.

Full route details and kit recommendations will be sent ahead of the event.

What to expect:

🥾 A fully guided hike led by the brilliant team at Hike Club creating welcoming group hikes that turn strangers into mates, combining movement, nature, and connection!
🌄 A super social atmosphere — designed to help conversations flow naturally
🍫 Trail treats from Cano, Tenzing & Hip Pop to keep you fuelled
🤝 A welcoming, supportive group — come solo or with a friend
📸 Incredible views, fresh Yorkshire air & that unbeatable post-hike feeling

Why join?

Because sometimes the best networking doesn’t happen in a bar.

It happens mid-climb.
Sharing snacks.
Cheering each other on.
And celebrating at the top.

This is your chance to get out of the city, challenge yourself, and meet genuinely great people while doing it.
