En el marco de la exposición On the Other Way (18–21 de septiembre en Hub/Art Barcelona) organizada por Sensity Studio, la artista Liliana Díaz García presenta Sobremesa, una activación que disuelve los límites entre escultura, alimento y encuentro humano.
On the Other Way explora caminos alternativos y perspectivas no contadas en el arte contemporáneo. En este marco, Sobremesa amplía la exposición hacia la experiencia vivida: invita al público no solo a contemplar, sino a participar activamente, convirtiendo la diferencia en diálogo y la intimidad en una transformación colectiva.
Concebida como un proyecto colaborativo con el maestro panadero Xavier Barriga (Turris), Sobremesa parte de la tradición mexicana del pan de muerto y del ritual social de la sobremesa para convertir un gesto cotidiano —compartir pan— en una experiencia artística efímera y participativa.
El público invitado podrá intervenir directamente en la obra: siete esculturas de pan y cerámica dispuestas sobre una gran mesa se transformarán a través de cortes, mordiscos y gestos, dando lugar a nuevas formas y memorias colectivas. Tras la acción, la mesa se convertirá en espacio de diálogo donde la artista guiará una conversación sobre arte, alimento, rituales y cuestiones contemporáneas.

La activación será documentada en foto y vídeo, subrayando su carácter irrepetible: cada Sobremesa es distinta, un instante de creación compartida que evoluciona con quienes participan.

Bread and ceramic sculptures transformed by eating: a collective ritual of art, nourishment, and dialogue.
As part of the exhibition On the Other Way (18–21 September at Hub/Art Barcelona) organized by Sensity Studio, artist Liliana Díaz García presents Sobremesa, an activation that dissolves the boundaries between sculpture, nourishment and human connection. On the Other Way explores alternative paths and untold perspectives in contemporary art. Within this framework, Sobremesa extends the exhibition into lived experience: it invites the audience not only to contemplate but to actively participate, turning difference into dialogue and intimacy into collective transformation.
Created in collaboration with master baker Xavier Barriga (Turris), Sobremesa draws on the Mexican tradition of pan de muerto and the social ritual of sobremesa, transforming the everyday act of sharing bread into an ephemeral and participatory artistic experience.
The invited audience will be able to directly intervene in the work; seven bread-and-ceramic sculptures will be reshaped through bites, cuts and gestures, becoming collective records of experience. After the action, the table turns into a space for dialogue, with the artist leading a conversation around art, food, rituals and contemporary issues.
