About this Event
Most companies have lawyers to guide them. Most employees don’t. And no one teaches us about our legal rights before we enter the working world, so even high-level professionals don’t understand their workplace rights or how to invoke them effectively. This perpetuates our country’s vast power imbalance between corporations and working people, and it negatively impacts the health and wellbeing of employees.
Employment lawyers Julia Stephanides and Hillary Benham-Baker want to change this. They teach workshops and classes to give employees the knowledge, tools, and skills to advocate for themselves. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, they will be sharing what you need to know about layoffs. They will illuminate the main legal protections for employees who are laid off, share the procedures that companies must follow in layoffs, and explain the difference between a layoff that is unlawful versus one that is just unfair or upsetting. They will also share key considerations and strategies for negotiating your severance. This will be an interactive event where questions are welcome.
Come learn all the things the big corporations don’t want you to know. Spread the word and bring your friends. The worker empowerment movement is here.
Disclaimer: this event will not create any attorney-client relationship between you and the attorneys. They are not providing any personalized legal advice, just general information to guide you.
