Registration Announcement – SYTYCB Casting Call
So You Think You Can Braid (SYTYCB), produced by Frances Simmons Ellis, is a reality competition designed to celebrate and elevate the artistry of hair braiding while educating contestants and viewers about preventing traction alopecia—a leading cause of premature hair loss. As President of the Illinois Beauty and Barber Coalition, Frances Simmons Ellis is pioneering this six-month, next-level educational experience set to air in Spring 2026. The competition blends skill-building, mentorship, and media exposure with the critical mission of reshaping the way we think about hair health and styling practices. Registration is now open, and the in-person casting call will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 3 PM to 7 PM at 6046 W. North Ave, Chicago, IL 60639. Contestants ages 15+ are welcome (participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

How to Secure Your Slot

To receive your placement slot #, you must:

• Meet Frances Simmons Ellis in person on October 19, 2025
• Present a finished braid style (live model OR mannequin head accepted)
• Demonstrate neatness, creativity, and consistency in your braiding
• Be ready to answer 1–3 quick questions about your goals and passion

If you impress Frances, you’ll hear her signature phrase:
“You Got It!” – confirming your advancement to the next level.
