Calling all curious nature-loving kids/adults and all citizen scientists!
Sunday, June 7 ๐ 10โ11:30 AM๐ Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts๐ FREE | All ages welcome!
Join a Park Ranger who wll introduce you to some "animal ambassadors" species of local Snakes and Turtles which can be found at Wolf Trap National Park and throughout the DMV area. Discover the reptiles & and more- hiding in plain sight! ๐๐ธ
๐ What to expect:
- We will meet outdoors on one of the covered Park Pavilions for the lecture and to meet the "Ambassadors". There is no touching the reptiles. After which we will walk to the pond to look for turtles.
The "animal ambassadors" include male and female box turtles, a small snapping turtle, and Eastern Garter snake, Eastern Rat snake - Identification tips and cool facts about native species
- How to become a wildlife watcher in your own backyard ๐ฟ
- How to protect our native species
- Debunking myths
- Fun for all agesโno science background needed!
- We will take a 15 minute walk to the Pond at Wolf Trap National Park to see if you can spot any reptiles!

๐ฅพ Meet at the Ranger Station to the left of the Filene Center main entrance. Volunteers will direct you to the lecturr location which is outdoors.
๐ Bring water, wear closed-toe shoes, and get ready to explore!
Participation in these events are at your own risk. Please bring any medical supplies you may need (for example an Epi pen for bees, etc.) Children under 18 must be accompanied by parents or legal guardians. Always do a tick-check after outdoor events.

- Cost: Free
- Registration: Please RSVP only if you plan to attend. If your plans change, PLEASE cancel your tickets 2 days in advance so others can participate.
- PARK IN LOT 1- Behind the Filene Center Volunteers will help direct you to the correct place.
- Heavy Rain Event will be rescheduled
