Our January meeting program will be a very special one, presented by Brent Stock, Executive Director of the James River Basin Partnership (JRBP), based in Springfield.JRBP is grassroots, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization working to improve and protect the water quality of the springs, streams, rivers, and lakes in the James River watershed which consists of almost a million acres of land in portions of eight counties.
In the late 1990’s, the water quality of Table Rock Lake was rapidly declining, disrupting the local ecosystem, threatening tourism, and causing great local health concerns.
A group of passionate citizens formed the non-profit, James River Basin Partnership, in 1997, to address these concerns. By August 1999, they became an autonomous grassroots organization, relying on grant funding, memberships, municipality support and donations from individuals and businesses.
Join us on January 9 to hear and see what a difference this great organization is making in and around our community. You can also read more about their mission and work on their website - https://www.jamesriverbasin.com/mission
