On July 6th, SFJAZZ welcomes Bay Area based creative community SMARTBOMB for an activation of the entire SFJAZZ Center for a single day & night to present an immersive gathering of rare live music performances, video art/installs, and a daytime community marketplace.Headlining in the Miner Auditorium features a performance from legendary New York avant garde outfit, STANDING ON THE CORNER ART ENSEMBLE making their long-awaited Bay Area debut.
In the Joe Henderson Lab, we present an exploration of modern pioneers in sound, educated and rooted in jazz sensibilities while exhibiting the expansive and limitless boundaries of new music that can be inspired by such. A diverse spectrum of harmonic frequencies featuring live sets from MAYLEE TODD, MUSELE PROJECT, ZACHARY JAMES WATKINS, and opening with a rare & special premiere of new jazz compositions written by DAKIM, performed by rising pianist/artist DIEGO GAETA.
The 2nd floor lobby holds our community market featuring various beloved local vendors CONE SHAPE TOP, DEEP LISTENING EXPERIENCE, THE HERBAL RITUAL APOTHECARY, IRRELEVANT PRESS, FAMILY STYLE, NO BIAS, LOWER GRAND RADIO, & CHAMELEON VINTAGE, DISCODELIC RECORDS and ETERNAL NOW.
The market will also host DJ sets from local luminaries TRIBEJAZZ, THREE6SASHIA, and MELANIE MARIE, and live beat music sets from HERU & JILLESQUE.
Live visuals & video art will be on display courtesy of visual artists ERIK WILSON & LUKE LASLEY.
