Join Amber Middleton, MSW, LCSW to learn about the HOPE Van's outreach services for pregnant people experiencing homelessness.
About this Event

Individuals who are pregnant and living on the street face significant barriers and stigma to accessing pre-natal care and the supportive services that need to support them. The HOPE Program has evolved their program and SCHC resources to be able to provide increased access to care and support. Join us to learn about the challenges and systemic barriers that individuals face, the resources the HOPE team can provide and how improving access to systems of care can increase safety in our community for all.

Amber Middleton is the Senior Director of the HOPE Program for Shasta Community Health Center in Redding, California and has worked there for six years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Chico State and her Bachelors in Psychology from Sonoma State. She has been working in the field of social work in Shasta County with populations who have been greatly impacted by social determinants of health, poverty, lack of housing and trauma for over 20 years . She has learned through her career that systems are often not designed to meet those who are in most need of comprehensive services and has spent most of her career working to improve coordination of care and access to services.

Her vision for equity and well-being in the community is that that service delivery systems would be coordinated to deliver patient driven, trauma informed care to the community. She would like all members in the community to have access to the resources they need to have housing, health care and a living wage so that we may begin to change our community’s legacy of poverty, high scores of adverse childhood experiences and substance use in our community.
