Hindustani Vocal Music Recital by Milind Chittal
A child actor-singer who later became a practitioner and eminent guru of the Kirana gharana, the name of Firoz Dastur (1919-2008) stands tall in the firmament of Hindustani (North Indian) music. Having trained under the legendary Ramchandra Kundgolkar alias Sawai Gandharva, Dastur’s style showed the influence of his guru’s mentor, Abdul Karim Khan, the founder of the Kirana gharana.
Milind Chittal has had the privilege of training with Dastur. He also received valuable guidance from other stalwarts like Yashwantbua Joshi, Dinkar Kaikini, Dhondutai Kulkarni and Babanrao Haldankar. A top-grade artiste of All India Radio, he has to his credit concerts in various countries, published albums and several awards and accolades.
In this recital, he will present a bouquet of compositions attributed to his revered guru, Firoz Dastur.
