★ LAURE BOER
Laure Boer (FR) is a sound artist and musician based in Berlin. Her music is inspired by noise music and traditional folk. Her performances are hypnotic improvisations around traditional instruments, electroacoustic and DIY-electronic objects, and sometimes a voice, singing or reciting in her native French; a vibrant universe that is both vulnerable and brutal. She has worked with e.g., Tarek Atoui, Rabih Beaini, Dror Feiler, and Miki Yui. She did several residencies such as EMS Stockholm, Nusasonic in Manila (CTM/Goethe Institut/Musicboard Berlin), and Sound Art Lab, Denmark. She played at documenta fifteen, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Haus der Kunst München, Arte TV, Berlin Atonal, CTM Berlin, WSK Festival, Philippines, and toured Europe solo and in various band constellations. She is published by the labels Kashual Plastik, Chinabot, Otomatik Muziek, has been featured on the compilation "Below the Radar" by The Wire magazine, and is aired on NPR Radio, and BBC Radio.

★ BRUCH
BRUCH ist das langjährige Soloprojekt von Philipp Hanich, geboren in München, längst aber ansässig in Wien. Sattelfest in den diversen Tropen der Popkultur und einer breiten Palette subkultureller Standardtänze, nutzt Bruch die Verlockungen des empfindsamen Crooners in düsterem Grauschwarz ebenso, wie er im nächsten Moment als bissiger und von gesellschaftlich gefärbten Konflikten angetriebener Hitzkopf zu überzeugen weiß. Verletzlich und doch eindringlich, grandios und doch intim, manchmal bockig und krachend im Overdrive – Bruchs beschwörender und ungeschminkter Gesangsstil saugt eine:n sofort in seine Geschichten hinein.
Nach einer ersten LP-Veröffentlichung im Jahr 2012 spielt Bruch seitdem mit klanglichem Sprengstoff und ansteckenden Seelenstreichlern: Er verbindet dunkle Elektronik mit den großen Gesten von Rock’n’Roll Noir und Schlager auf eine höchst eigenständige und minimalistische Weise. Bruch kommt in verschiedenen Formen daher, phasenweise mit bzw. als Band, diesmal tourt er als Solokünstler. Er zieht alle Musikstile heran, die sich für seine Zwecke eignen (…) denn er ist 1, 2, 3, 4 … various!
Neben seiner Arbeit als Musiker und bildender Künstler (Bruchs Cover-Artworks sind allesamt handgemalt und ebenso stark und kompromisslos wie seine Musik) ist Philipp auch Mitbegründer der Musiklabels Cut Surface (seit 2016) und Totally Wired Records (2012-2016).

smallforms is a platform and music label for contemporary and experimental forms of music. the monthly series of smallforms seeks to support contemporary and experimental forms of music which require an attitude of listening and consists of recording sessions in the afternoon and concert/live set in the evening – joining forces with electronic allies, spoken word, spinning tunes or sweet stuff of pop culture that may lead to the underworld (or hell). in collaboration with the artspace Chateau Rouge run by performer and artist Elisabeth Bakambamba Tambwe.
