About this Event
Gloria Maddox Theatre Productions invites you to join us for an evening of contemplating silence, solace, and spiritual growth with a workshop production of Bess Wohl’s Small Mouth Sounds.
Joan and Judy, Alicia, Ned, Rodney, and Jan have all come to a week-long silent retreat for one reason: each of them is in agony, and each is here hoping to find some relief.
Guided by a sometimes distracted, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes profound Teacher, the attendees search for themselves—or something or someone else—as they participate in the retreat’s activities like meditation and group exercises. As we watch them navigate their despair, anger, frustration, confusion, grief, and even hope, we see their human longing break through their vows of silence and personas in ways that speak volumes about who they truly are . . .
This event will take place at T. Schreiber Studio at 151 W 26th Sreet, NYC.
