Titans of the guitar, they stand tall amongst the very best of guitarist/vocalists.The days are long gone when you can see Eric or Mark in an anything smaller than overseas arenas – but you can still experience the thrill of their music right here in Australia with the Slowhand Sultans Show.
Tim “Slowhand” Gaze has enjoyed a long career as one of Australia’s pre-eminent guitarist /vocalists. Playing professionally from the age of 15, Tim Gaze has had a diversified career both here and overseas, recording, producing, teaching and working with a multitude of artists and projects such as Tamam Shud, Jimmy Barnes, Jon Lord (of Deep Purple), Bob Daisley (Ozzie Osbourne, Rainbow, etc), Russell Morris, Brian Cadd, Gyan, Stevie Wright, Rob Grosser, Renee Geyer and many more. Tim has been playing the music of Slowhand for many years and has faithfully captured Eric’s style.
Mick “Sultan” Melit has worked professionally as a guitarist/vocalist for over 30 years and has shared the stage as a backing musician for some of Australia’s most revered artists including Russell Morris, Joe Camilleri, Jon Stevens, Marty Rhone, Frankie J Holden, Kevin Borich, Renee Geyer, Digger Revell and toured extensively as lead vocalist and second guitarist with the late, great Phil Emmanuel.
Mick is well known around South East Queensland for his solo shows and work with many bands and he has Mark Knopfler’s characteristic sound and finger style well in hand.
Tim and Mick are supported by Tom De Voss on Drums and Ian Lock on Bass. Tom and Ian are performing regularly around South East Queensland in a variety of bands and shows and form a tight, driving rhythm section which propels the music onwards and forms a solid platform for the guitar heroics of the lead men.
