One of the most recognisable mountains in the Highlands, this bulk of a mountain stands alone and gives superb views across to surrounding Torridon, the Fisherfields and the Fannicks mountains as well as of Loch Maree. We start gently following the Kinlochewe river before climbing into Coire na Sleaghaich, corrie of the spears. The name Slioch is thought to come from the Gaelic word ‘Sleagh’ – ‘the spear’. Once we have summited Slioch, we can take the stunning ridge across to Sgurr an Tuill Bhain for continued views into the wilderness of the Fisherfields before our descent.Fitness: This is a reasonably long day on good tracks mostly but with a steep climb to the summit. Reasonable hill fitness is required.
