For the first time, Slavic Voices London and Brighton choir will perform in Worthing! This joint choir will appear with a 30 minute folk set as part of Worthing festival under the umbrella of Best Foot Music events. This is a free outdoor performance in a lovely park. The choir will sing a set of folk songs a cappella, featuring happy and joyous melodies, lyrical pieces, as well as dance and wedding songs. Experience a mix of old and modern folk song arrangements, offering a big variety within a short set not to be missed. This repertoire is rarely performed in Worthing, making it a unique opportunity to hear something special!
Slavic Voices present a vibrant selection of folk music from the Slavic world, showcasing the rich cultural heritage found in traditions from far corners of Siberia to the banks of the Black Sea. The choir sings in Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Croatian, Slovak, Serbian, Macedonian, Belarusian, occasionally even Romanian or Yiddish. There is freedom and spontaneity in their approach to folklore as well as great attention to cultural context, history and style.
