Brian Gorrell is a world class saxophonist, pianist, composer, and educator. He is currently the head of the Jazz Studies division at UCO, and is one of the most prominent musical figures in Oklahoma. His resume is deep, having spent many years on The Lawrence Welk Show, and with countless big name performances and contacts worldwide. He'll be joined by no other than his son, Logan Gorrell on saxophone as well. Logan is a world class saxophonist and composer, with his own unique modern voice, rooted in blues/bebop. His energy and emotions are prevalent in every solo, as well as in all of his incredible compositions. The two will be joined by bandleader Kendrik McKinney, and his trio of husband-wife duo Rei Wang and David Bowen. This show pays tribute to one of the most prolific musicians to walk this earth, the great John Coltrane. Join us at Slate on 4/21, and come support America's music!
