SLAM NUBA (We Cut Heads!) is back for monthly poetry open mic on July 26! For the July show we are featuring the talented Ocean Jones!
Slam Nuba hosts a poetry open-mic and feature poet every final Friday at Redline Art Gallery in Denver. The monthly show is hosted by Aerik Francis and DJ Alisha B . Doors and sign-ups open 7:30PM. Show starts around 8:00PM. General admission is $10, $5 for students.

About this month's feature:
Ocean Jones! Formerly known on stage as “The Beacon” and later simply as Rico. The name Ocean Jones stuck as an earned name while serving time in St. Petersburg Florida where his natural charisma and ability to drop jewels connecting the streets to consciousness caused another inmate to say “We gone call you Ocean! Cause you deep AF” He immediately adopted the name and added Jones creating an identity for his artistry. He is a published author, screenwriter, activist, community organizer and Father. He would tell you this has been his life’s work, but the foundation for his passion for spokenword dates back to being in the audience at “Speakout!” Watching artist from “The Deadly Pens”(We Cut Heads!) in Aurora, CO. Ocean Jones is from Lansing, MI born and raised and Proudly claims Denver, CO as his second home! Particularly the Eastside!
