MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, June 11, 2026, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam continues its popular open mic poetry series at Stark Brewing Company. This week, we will start with the weekly open mic at 8pm and follow it with a COMPETITIVE SLAM!! There is a $5 cover and this is an all-ages show. This MORTAL KOMBAT style slam is open to eight contestants - and we need 8 to make it work so PLEASE come out to participate, if you're tempted!!! The theme and topic of poetry is completely open but the structure of the slam itself is WILD. This is a bracketed head to head where each player will have a random "attack" they can apply to their opponent at any time, forcing that opposing poet to execute various challenges as they perform. An example would be at Hop-On-One-Foot attack. Contestants must keep in mind that, as you perform your poem, you may be required to do something very silly!!!
Suggestions for poem topics are: video games, anything humorous or silly, epic stories, superheros. Those are just ideas because it is completely open! I have heard, however, that judges may award a bonus point for poems written in ABACABB rhyme schemes. (This is a cheat code combo for the game.)
Accessibility Information:
The entrance to our show is at the back of the building with no stairs to enter the space. There is a ramp through the main bar for access to the ADA compliant bathrooms. For any other accessibility questions message our page or ask a staff member at the show.

Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm. Featured poets and slams follows the open mic. Come and enjoy the delicious food and beverages at Stark Brewing Company! There is a $5 cover charge but no one is turned away for lack of funds. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the building (facing the river) and you can feel free to use the entrance on that side.
