Let’s build a New Buffalo Legacy
Join us on Sunday, August 14, 2022 –8th annual SkyRide, presented by Independent Health.
Our theme for this ride refers to our entire community’s efforts to make area streets and roads safer for all people, whether you’re walking, biking, using public transit, using a wheelchair, or driving.
With organized effort, we can design and build a transportation network that finally sees traffic injuries and deaths decline (after rising 21% last year) and where anyone, from children through older adults, can use our streets, sidewalks and intersections safely, without fear of reckless drivers.
GObike and our presenting sponsor, Independent Health, invite you to join us for a family-friendly bike ride over Buffalo’s Skyway to kick off this new legacy for Buffalo and celebrate all the positive change we’ve seen so far.
It’s the most incredible view you’ll ever experience on a bike, and it’s available only once-a-year!
Ride an Urban Highway
ROAD CLOSED TO CARS! 2022’s route is a car-free urban highway adventure on your bike, along Buffalo’s waterfront, through an Olmsted Park, and of course, over the Skyway and back again.
The best view in the city
No stopping and getting off your bike for photos, but you can ride slowly and soak in one of the best views ever.
Family-Friendly Route
Cyclists of all ages, shapes, sizes and skills are welcome and encouraged to ride. It’s not a race, just a great ride for family and friends! Of course it’s a climb, but a gradual one, well-worth the view ?
The ride will start and end at the Outer Harbor Lakeside Bike Park (825 Fuhrmann Boulevard). We encourage riding your bike to the start wherever possible, and we will release rallying points and additional packet pickup locations later this summer.
From the Bike Park, we’ll go down Fuhrmann to Tifft, to Hopkins, loop South Park, back to Hopkins, Tifft, and Fuhrmann. This will spread out the crowd a bit before everyone begins their charge on the Skyway. Go up, down, loop around on Eagle Street downtown, and do it all over again on your way back to the Outer Harbor.
