Skin & Steel: Steel & Skin brings together highly skilled and talented African drummers, steel pan players and dancers to share in the evolution of the steel pan, through movement and music. The drums of Africa were banned in the Caribbean but creativity was not crushed. After experimentation with bamboos, metal cans, old tins, anything that would make a sound, the discarded oil drum evolved into today’s modern steel pan. The ‘pan’ is the national instrument of the twin-island state of Trinidad & Tobago and today, across many islands, the dynamics and infectiousness of Steel & Skin still seduces. An evening of superb Caribbean entertainment!
