Karen Sako is a Chicago-based artist and educator whose award-winning work celebrates the energy of nature and the expressive power of mark-making. With over 30 years of teaching experience, she believes sketching is the gateway to seeing the world more deeply. Her background in graphic design and decades as a painter inform her dynamic approach, blending observation with creativity. At the Botanical Garden, Sako brings a welcoming, hands-on style that helps participants slow down, explore color and composition, and discover the joy of capturing the living landscape on paper.
