Trumpeter Paul Merrill joins a select student ensemble conducted by James Spinazzola for a full rendition of Miles Davis' landmark recording, Sketches of Spain. The genre-defying masterpiece is the last of three remarkable collaborative efforts by Gil Evans and Davis, including a recomposition of Joaquín Rodrigo's Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez and an arrangement of Will o' the Wisp by Manuel de Falla and impressions of traditional Flamenco themes from field recordings.
