One-day workshopJoin David Bannister for Sketchbook Pen and Wash, a relaxed and inspiring art workshop focused on developing confidence in drawing and watercolour through sketchbook practice.
This workshop explores the expressive combination of pencil, pen, and watercolour washes, encouraging a loose, observational approach rather than detailed finished pieces. Working in a sketchbook, participants will learn how to capture everyday scenes, objects, and moments quickly and effectively.
You will be guided through:
Drawing from observation using pencil and pen
Creating lively line work and expressive marks
Applying simple watercolour washes using pan paints
Working from photographic references and from objects or scenes in and around the studio
The emphasis is on looking carefully, working intuitively, and enjoying the process, making this workshop suitable for beginners as well as those looking to loosen up their drawing style.
If you can, bring a sketchpad A4 or smaller, a permanent ink pen and a watercolour pan set. However we can provide these if necessary. If you have any images you would like to work from, bring them too!
Suitable for:
Beginners and improvers. No prior experience necessary.
Free car parking.
Refreshments provided throughout the workshop.
Please bring your own lunch.
