📍Meet at the sign in front of the WPA Rock Garden in William Land Park (pictured above) ⏰ Start at 5:30pm
🎒 Bring outdoor sketching supplies (bug spray, hat, sketchbook, stool, chair, pens, paints, water bottle, snacks)
We’ll do a quick intro at 5:30pm to meet each other, then sketch our surroundings from direct observation. We’ll split up to sketch wherever we’d like. Finally, we’ll share what we’ve created at 7:15pm. The event will end at 7:30pm.
The Rock Garden was established by the Works Progress Administration in 1940. It has so many interesting plants and flowers to draw, and a unique rock structure in the middle. It's right near the lily pond, another beautiful spot to sketch.
Urban Sketchers Manifesto:
-We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
-Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
-Our drawings are a record of time and place.
-We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
-We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
-We support each other and draw together.
-We share our drawings online.
-We show the world, one drawing at a time.
