Whether you're a beginner sketcher or a seasoned pro artist, you'll love coming out and drawing with USKCharlotte because you'll practice sketching from life, meet other artists, and explore a unique spot around Charlotte!
About the location:
The Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF) is an annual celebration of imaginative visual and performing arts. It bridges Charlotte’s local and international communities, featuring global artists in a joyful celebration filled with live performances, art installations, and cultural expressions from around the world. With over 200 events, many of which are free, CIAF offers something for everyone—no matter your taste, background, or budget. The festival takes place in locations in Uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne. CIAF is hosting several outdoor sculptures made by local artists on uptown's Levine Avenue and nearby park, the Green. These sculptures and surrounding city environs will be great to sketch!
Order of events:
6:15pm - Meet and greet in the outdoor plaza in front of Mint Museum uptown
6:20 - 7:30pm - Find a spot, sketch!
7:30-7:45pm - Regroup in outdoor plaza in front of Mint Museum for a sketchbook throw down (informal, fun critique)
Parking: Plan some extra time for parking. Monday night should be a pretty good time to snag a street parking spot in the area - spots are all around Romare Bearden Park and some on Tryon. Nearby paid parking can be had at Bank of America Center Garage (150 N College St). $10 for the evening starting at 5pm.
Things to bring:
- something to sketch with (pencil, pen, markers, watercolors, tattoo gun, etc)
- something to sketch on (paper, sketchbook, papyrus scroll, cave wall, etc)
