About this Event
Not to be missed, French Black Metal heavyweights SKAPHOS come to Bournemouth for the first time, supported by Californian Black Doom/Bass metal band Antania.
BANDS
SKAPHOS was formed in 2018, the crew plunges into the depths, lost and drowned in a madness from which they can never escape. A dreadful world at the edge of reality.
“From now on, SKAPHOS figures prominently among the names to remember from the French Black / Death Metal scene” (Metal Alliance Mag). The band's first album, Bathyscaphe (2020), unveiled a vehement, aggressive, and dissonant sound, drawing inspiration from the works of Verne and Lovecraft. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Skaphos toured across Europe, notably alongside Vader, bringing its vision of the abyss to the stage.
-
Antania's music is a fusion of bass and death metal, creating a unique sound that's been described as "black, doom bass".¹ Their latest release, "The God Complex," features songs like "The God Complex" and "Angels and Demons," showcasing their ability to blend heavy basslines with intense metal elements without using and or sampling any stringed instruments, this is blackened bass music.
