A healing ceremony will be held at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery located at 1200 E. Fir Street in Mount Vernon, Washington at the site of the Skagit Angel of Hope Monument on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 7 PM for all parents, families, and loved ones that have lost a child of any age. The vigil will be in the Northwest corner of the cemetery and the road will be illuminated.This statue is a symbol of hope, a place to reflect, a place of healing and a special place for people to grieve. There is a great spiritual wonder in this memorial statue. This Angel will be a symbol that will represent and honor our children.
After a few remarks and moment of silence, the attendees are invited to leave a white flower (silk flowers and battery operated tea lights will be provided) at the base of the Angel statue. Attendees are welcome to bring flowers and lights. The public is welcome.
The Christmas Box Angel ceremony has its roots in the widely acclaimed novel written by Utah author Richard Paul Evans known as “The Christmas Box.” In the story, a woman grieves the loss of her child by visiting a statue described as a childlike angel with wings outstretched and the word “hope” written on its right wing.
