A recognized expert on Scottish and Celtic history and culture, as well as an ever popular instructor and performer at the Celtic Arts Winter School, we're especially pleased to offer a Scottish Smallpipes Workshop with Dr. Gary West on Saturday, December 7th!The workshop will run from 9:30am to 2:30pm with a short break for lunch. Cost for the workshop is $85, and its focus is on Scottish Smallpipes tunes. There will be some focus on repertoire, but also touch on tuning, performance preparation, and delivery, along with playing with other instruments.
Workshop Outline
9:30-11:00 – Class session 1
11:00-11:15 – Break
11:15-12:30 – Class session 2
12:30-1:15 – Lunch and break
1:15-2:30 – Class session 3
Meals
We are offering our usual option of a box lunch from the Skagit Valley Co-Op featuring a generous deli sandwich and chips. Of if you prefer, please feel free to bring your own bag lunch to the workshop. If you purchase the boxed lunch and have dietary restrictions, please contact us at least ten days before the event so we have time to make special arrangements. Substitutions requested after that cannot be accommodated.
Gary is also presenting a lecture, hosting a session, and offering more fun events during his visit.
Where to stay? Workshop participants enjoy a discounted rate at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Burlington (about a ten-minute drive from the Littlefield Celtic Center). Just mention the Celtic Arts Foundation when booking.
