About this Event
This is the CHEAPEST and BEST summer basketball program in Vancouver. Led by Coach Gourley and his assistants, there will be no more than 20 athletes allowed per session, for a student-to-coach ratio of 10.
All genders are welcome to the program.
ALL revenue after expenses will be donated to the Tupper Athletics. Last year Tupper PAC donated $1600 .
There are two 2.5 hour sessions. The first session starts at 9:00 am and ends at 11:30 am. Second session starts at 11:30 am and ends at 2:00 pm.
Every session is open to all students who have graduated from elementary school (i.e. just finished grade seven) through to those entering grade 12.
Coach Jeff Gourley is a dynamic speaker who brings his infectious love of the game to any group he works with. By using humor, pop culture references and plain language Gourley break’s down the game on numerous different levels which allows coaches to help their own players understand the fundamentals of the game.
As a player, Gourley was a two time all Canadian, winner of 7 Canadian regional and provincial championships, member of Canada’s National team, CIS championship and is a member of St. Mary’s University Hall of Fame.
His coaching resume at Tupper reads six city Championships, 8 East or AAA Division championships and nine appearances at the provincial Championships. He has been awarded every B.C. individual high school coaching award that there is for basketball including BC High School Coach of the year.
In addition to coaching at Tupper, Gourley was an assistant coach with Canada’s National team for 8 years and head coach with Basketball BC provincial teams for 6 years.
