About this Event
The Single Mom Strong's Men's Mentoring Team Kickball Kick-off is an opportunity for the children of the SMS community to get to know each other better and have some fun, while getting to know those interested in volunteering for our Men’s Mentoring program in the coming year. We are kicking off the year of programming with a fun game of KICKBALL!
Single Mom Strong’s Men’s Mentoring Program creates relationships between caring, positive male role models and school-aged children of single moms. Mentors strive to build a supportive, friendly, healthy relationship with children of single moms. Mentors are trained and supported to serve as positive role models to mentees in a structured environment. Mentors and mentees meet regularly and consistently, typically for two hours each month, over the course of a school year.
All school-age children of single moms, ages 5.5 (entering 1st grade) through13 (entering 8th grade) are welcome. Lack of experience or athleticism should not discourage your child from participating- this game is just for fun! Please come out and get to know our volunteers and mentors! Moms will be invited to play or observe and will be given information about the program and applications to sign-up their children. Children present at one of the Summer Sports Series events (stay tuned for July event details!) will have priority and space is limited.
Please ensure children wear tennis shoes, bring water and have eaten dinner before attending, as only small snacks will be available.
We are looking for a few good men! Are you interested in making a positive impact on a child's life? (Or do you know someone who is- please share!) Come on out to this event to learn about our program and get to know the children of the SMS community!
