About this Event
Kuah Celok is a tangy, refreshing fish soup that warms you from the inside out - every crevice of your heart and bones. It's not a dish you could easily walk into a restaurant and order, unless you happen to be good friends with someone who traces their ancestry to a small island just north of Surabaya and Madura, in the Java Sea.
Come join the Sendok Rakyat Cooking Club and cook Kuah Celok with us and a community of friends. This edition, we'll be cooking Kuah Celok and a hearty meal for us to enjoy, while we chat about how food can be a vehicle of connection - in this instance, with our Baweanese roots through our late grandparents (whom we've never met in person). We'll unpack how memory is embedded in heritage, taste, and ritual.
Everyone's welcome to join the Cooking Club. No experience is necessary, just the willingness to contribute to making good food, good conversation, and sharing the space with the community!
About Sendok Rakyat
