A UNESCO Biodiversity Hotspot, the Banda-Tilari-Talkat region is often dubbed Maharashtra’s Amazon for its unparalleled natural beauty and rich wildlife. This area is a haven for bird enthusiasts, offering a chance to spot some of the region’s most iconic and endemic species and over 250 species have been recorded in the area. Banda is also known as ‘Village of Owls’, thus, owling in this area is very rewarding, with owls like Brown-Wood-Owl, Jungle Owlet, Spotted Owlet, and Indian Scops-Owl can be spotted here. One can also spot birds like the Grey-headed Bulbul, Flame-throated Bulbul, Srilankan Frogmouth, Jerdon’s Nightjar, White-cheeked Barbet, Malabar Grey Hornbill and Malabar Pied-Hornbill.
