Sinatra & Garland: The concert that could have beenFeaturing Broadway's Lucia Spina, with Michael Pizzi and John Fischer(music director)
Can you imagine if two of the most iconic figures in the music industry got together and created a concert? It would likely still be running had they lived longer lives. But now is your chance to hear what could have been in the newly created MPZ Productions “Sinatra & Garland: The concert that could have been”. Michael Pizzi, founder and producing artistic director mulled over this project for a couple years, given his fandom of both artists. “I was singing their music since I was ten years old, in the basement of my parents’ NJ home. Mom was a huge Sinatra fan, and it was such a privilege to take her to see him in Atlantic City in the early 1980’s. I had more fun watching her watching him!” Pizzi says.
The concert will feature many of their hit songs (it can’t be ALL of their hit songs otherwise it would be a week long concert!). Some of those songs include” Rockabye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody”, “Zing Went the Strings of My Heart”, “New York New York”, “The Lady is a Tramp”, a different version of “The Trolley Song”, “Chicago” and so many more, including of course that iconic Garland song that everyone knows!
The music direction is by NYC’s John Fischer, who you have heard play at 54 Below and across the country. Michael Pizzi, who created the show, has performed off-Broadway, at various nightclubs and created over 15 theatrical concerts for charity, will perform many of the songs made famous by Sinatra and some by Garland. And Worcester will be introduced to the Broadway star and powerhouse Lucia Spina. Lucia has been featured in “Into the Woods”, “Bridges of Madison County”, “Les Miserables” and many more. A Chicago native, her Mama Rose in “Gypsy” at the Marriott Theater received rave reviews (you have got to hear her version of ""Chicago""!). You will be very happy you got tickets to this innovative and exciting new show.
