This CHALLENGING walk is suitable for individuals with a very good level of fitness. Please ensure you are ready for the challenge 😃
This is a group walk and we will be helping each other keep pace and encouraging each other along the way.
Join us for a circular walk which takes us through parts of the Bolton Abbey Estate to the great vantage point of Simon’s Seat.
During the walk:
There will be an opportunity to stop to enjoy the views and have lunch at approximately 12.30pm. Please bring your own lunch, something which is easy to carry 😊
Time:
10.30am briefing
10.40am the walk will begin
(Please arrive on time. We cannot wait for late comers).
Walk duration and type:
The walk is expected to take the group approximately 5 hours.
This is dependant on the groups pace, extra time is added to the event to take in the views and stop off and enjoy your lunch/snacks (bring this with you).
This is a challenging walk on a trail path including flat, steep inclines and climbs for a short duration, steps and walking downhill.
Parts of the route can be slippery underfoot depending on the weather. Parts of the route will be on a road with cars passing.
This walk is suitable for individuals with a GOOD LEVEL OF FITNESS. Please ensure you are ready for the challenge 😃
Meet up point:
Barden Bridge Car Park. This is lay-by parking immediately on the left after you go over the bridge. Parking is limited, please arrive early to find alternate parking if needed.
Getting there:
We encourage participants to car share. A WhatsApp group is set up to help you arrange this. At your own responsibility. The organiser does not take any responsibility for any part of this arrangement.

Phone signal can vary depending on the route you take. Please plan your route ahead of the day.
Weather:
Rain or shine, the walk will go ahead. However the walk would be cancelled if the weather caused dangerous conditions. Walkers will be updated by WhatsApp as soon as possible.
In the event of the event being cancelled by the organiser due to dangerous walking conditions, walkers will be offered a space on either the postponed walk or on the next two walks. Walkers will have the option to book ONE of these walks at no further cost. If the walker is unable to make any of these walks, their ticket will be forfeited.
Your ticket includes:
- “she walks” wrist band
- full route information including steps covered and approximate calories burnt
- motivation along the way from the event organiser/guide
- admin costs
- a dedicated WhatsApp group to arrange car shares and share pictures after the event
- a lot of fun and laughs along the way 😁
Kit List
- ESSENTIAL walking boots/shoes. Loose trainers and pumps without grip are not allowed.
- comfortable trousers or leggings suitable for walking. Waterproof jacket is essential. Waterproof bottoms are recommended.
- layers in case it rains/feels cold.
- backpack with extra water/snacks if needed and lunch.
- any personal Medic*tion.
No refunds for cancellations/no shows. All tickets are non refundable and non transferable.
By purchasing a ticket you confirm that you are fit and able to complete the walk and have sought GP advice where needed.
There will be photography/videos at all walks for promotional and marketing purposes.

The volunteers, Group, group organisers, event organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to or from such event, however caused.
This walk is led by volunteers not qualified MLs. When you join a walk or other event, you indicate that you accept these conditions and accept that no legal liability is accepted by the group, volunteers, group organisers, event organisers or event hosts.

The group leader reserves the right to not allow you to join the walk if you do not have the suitable kit or fitness on the day.
By joining any event, you confirm:
- you are over the age of 18
-throughout the walk, you are responsible for assessing your safety and any action is at your own risk.
- you have the suitable kit eg suitable footwear, as stated above
- you are responsible for all of your kit including Medic*tion. You will notify the group leader and volunteers of any medical condition that may affect the walk at the start.
- you confirm you have read and understood everything stated on this event
