Join Vivienne Kanharn (Silver with Frills) as she returns for a fun workshop creating beautiful silver clay stacking rings from start to finish!In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to design and create your own set of delicate stacking rings using silver clay. Each participant will be provided with 7g of silver clay to work with, allowing you to create one or several rings depending on your design.
Once you’re happy with your pieces, they will need time to dry. This is the perfect moment to take a short break, stretch your legs, and enjoy some snacks, cake, and refreshments. Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies.
After the clay has dried, you’ll begin refining your rings using files and sanding pads to smooth the surfaces and edges before the exciting part — firing your pieces with a handheld torch. Vivienne will give a demonstration and then guide each participant through the firing process.
Once fired, your rings will be hand polished to bring out the beautiful silver shine. You will also have the option to add a patina using liver of sulphur to highlight textures and details before finishing with a burnisher to bring out the final highlights.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own handmade sterling silver stacking rings to wear and enjoy.
Some parts of this workshop can be a little messy or dusty, so you may wish to wear clothes you don’t mind getting slightly mucky!
