About this Event
Silent Book Club - Sussex County, NJ Chapter
Sussex County's new chapter of Silent Book Club invites you to spend an afternoon reading in good company. Bring whatever book you're currently working on — fiction, nonfiction, a long-overdue library hold, an audiobook with headphones — and settle in alongside other local readers.
The format is simple: We arrive at 2:00 and spend the first half hour ordering, getting comfortable, and chatting briefly about what we're reading. From 2:30 to 3:30, we read quietly together. The last half hour is open for conversation about books, recommendations, and whatever else comes up — or for more reading, if that's what you'd rather do. There's no assigned book, no discussion questions, and no pressure to talk if you're not in the mood.
This first meetup is hosted at The Copper Kettle, a local spot serving coffee, tea, soups, sandwiches, and pastries. We encourage everyone to order something to support them — they're generously providing the space, and the food is genuinely good.
Silent Book Club began in San Francisco in 2012 and has grown into a global community of nearly 2,000 chapters in more than 55 countries. All readers are welcome.
