Silent Walking Meditation & Mindful Movement on the beach (Big Bay, Blouberg, Cape Town) - Donation based.I have had many requests for another silent walking meditation .. so here is the next one.
When: Sunday 22 March at 08:45am
Duration: 2 hours (Approx)
Where: Eden on the Bay, Big Bay, Blouberg, Cape Town
Suggested Donation: R50 (you are welcome to offer more or less. However please join even if you can't afford a donation)
This event will include a walking meditation on the beach and mindful movement practices, done whilst honoring noble silence. There will be an optional cold water swim after.
The walk is not long, perhaps 1 to 2 kms in total, and we deliberately walk super slow, therefore all fitness levels are welcome
Things to note:
- There will be a briefing at 8:45 which is important not to miss. This will take place on the grass in front of the restaurants of Eden on the Bay).
- Thereafter we will enter into a period of silence and commence our walking meditation on the beach at approximately 9am.
- Phones must be turned off and stay off whilst in silence.
- At the turning point and when we return from the walk, we will do some gentle mindful movement before coming out of silence.
- There will also be an optional ocean dip thereafter.
- We want our hands to be free so either have a backpack with your car keys and valuables (wallet, phone, etc) and swimming towel, warm top, etc.), Or if you are comfortable, leave that all in the car and just bring your car key in a pocket.
- Wear comfortable walking and moving clothes but its best to have a warm layer that you can take off if needed. If you are going to swim after, you are welcome to have your cozzie under your clothes or do a quick change after the mindful movement at the end.
- Ideally we walk barefoot on the sand to fully experience the grounding sensations under the feet. However if you would prefer to wear walking shoes, that is also fine.
- With regards to kids and dogs .. it is important to note that we will be doing a meditation practice so that you can gift yourself some stillness with little to no distractions. We also do not want to risk distracting the others. My recommendation is to do this for yourself and not have to worry about others during the walk. Perhaps teens that would be comfortable being in silence for more than an hour could join.
- Donations can be made at the venue with cash, SnapScan or after with EFT (please have the exact cash you would like to donate to avoid change issues).
