About this Event

This seminar explores how the current political climate in the United States is impacting research into the healthcare needs of diverse and marginalised communities. From the deletion of key datasets to the erasure of academic contributions, the session will examine how political decisions are shaping—and in some cases, obstructing—critical health research.

Speakers and Topics:

  • Prof Catherine Meads will discuss the suppression of LGBT+ health data, including the removal of government web pages and the disappearance of research records from prominent institutions.
  • Dr Pam Knight will explore the parallels in ethnicity and health research, highlighting how systemic barriers affect data collection and visibility.

This event is ideal for researchers, students, and anyone interested in health equity, data transparency, and the intersection of politics and public health.

Event presented as part of the Cambridge Festival.
