The Woods Trail is a wide fire road with a gradual incline and is partly shaded. The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding areas including San Jose, Mt. Hamilton and Mt. Umunhum. We will hike out and back for a total of 5 - 7 miles and total elevation of about 800 ft. The hike should take 2.5 - 3 hours.
This hike isn't listed separately on Alltrails but the Woods Trail and Barlow Road loop which is linked below has the same starting point on the Woods Trail. The Sierra Azul entrance FOR THIS HIKE is at the intersection of Hicks Road and Mt. Umunhum Road and is called Sierra Azul Parking at Jacques Ridge. If you google Sierra Azul you may get the wrong entrance! Please click on the location link and your directions will take you to the meeting point. There is a small parking lot with a restroom and if this lot is full you can park on the other side of Hicks Road at a Quicksilver entrance which has a large parking lot. This is called Wood Road entrance on the location map..
