Sickle Cell Disease 115 Years Later: Improving Health Outcomes Through Policy, Research, and Collaboration

The SCD 115 Years Later Symposium serves as a critical platform to bring together experts from multiple sectors to explore innovative solutions for improving health outcomes and the overall quality of life for individuals affected by SCD. This event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in SCD research and treatment, while also identifying the ongoing gaps in healthcare access, policy, and community support. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, participants will engage in discussions on how to integrate new scientific discoveries, leverage policy changes, and promote advocacy efforts to ensure equitable healthcare for all individuals with SCD.

Poster Session Announcement

We invite public health students, medical residents, junior researchers, and any other trainees in SCD management or SCD research to submit an abstract for the Poster Session. This is an opportunity to present work on any of the following SCD topic areas:

• Social determinants of SCD care
• Health equity and access to care
• Newborn screening and early intervention
• Care coordination and comprehensive services
• Mental health, psychosocial support, and quality of life (SCD patients and caregivers)
• Community engagement and patient advocacy
• Public health surveillance and epidemiology
• Policy and healthcare systems change
• SCD care/management in low-resource settings
